Arin turned 18 years old on Thursday and we celebrated with good food and great company at Angah's, as you can see:

An afternoon at rumah nenek

This 'rumah padi' has been around for a long, long time

Last week, on a sweet, sunny Friday afternoon, we went to nenek's house. Fruit season has passed its peak but there were still buah-buahan in the backyard to be picked.

And so, armed with penjolok/penjuluk and agile climbing skills, our mums and dads and aunts and uncles swarmed the orchard - where a lot of us used to play in when we were younger, cuter and shorter - in search of fruity treasures.

Of course, what's a good family gathering without makan? We had cucur, Mak Long's home-made pizza, biscuits and fruits fruits fruits.

Besides fruit-picking, there were also other activities going on. Little boys terrorised the cats and generally did naughty things. [p.s. Kids, never throw cats into the river, ever!]

Finally, before everyone balik, there was the pembagian harta a.k.a. buah duku, a four-woman operation supervised by Baby Alwan.

So that was how we spent last Friday, with fun, fruits and family. Looking forward to more gatherings!

Celebration in the UK

Assalamualaikum everyone,

Hari Raya celebration has always been held in the UK, and this year was no different. Hundreds of students, from all over the UK flocked into the capital to be part of the biggest event held by the BSUnion. Interestingly, this year's celebration was held on board one of the capital's largest entertainment/party boat (enough to accommodate about 200 people), the Dixie Queen. Departing from Tower Pier, we got to witness the lifting of the Tower Bridge and even passing through it!

Basically its a boat cruise in London with lunch meal, lucky draws, performances and lots of sakai begambar. Personally for me, sea-sickness was the highlight of the event.

My uni UCL (Thats short for University College London) is now ranked 4th in the world! :P now thats a really strong statement; so dear uncles/aunts/relatives i'm not going to a crappy uni hahaha.

Well it has been about 2 weeks since my departure from the airport, things have turned out pretty great here. Still staying at the same flat as last academic year, now I've a room of my own. Its nice knowing that lots of Bruneians have enrolled to London-based universities this time around (even my girlfriend too) and hopefully with enough male freshers we could form a proper football team to compete at the winter and easter games.
First semester timetable looks better compared to last year's, hurrah.

Monday Tuesday Wednesday classes start off early in the morning and end around 2pm.
Thursday Friday - 9 am to 6pm.
Saturday/Sunday - football session at Hyde Park (its not in the timetable, just wanted to mention here) So to the guys back home, jangan tah beranti main bula, karang jadi macam parut c pami.

Anyway, my place just got the broadband set up after waiting for so long..... which explains my disappearance from Messenger or facebook. Well now that the internet is up and running, you'll be seeing me more often online. I can't promise that I'll be updating regularly.

See you all in 9 months time!

Bali

Bali was a really beautiful place. All the tourist sites were picturesque and the whole island seemed to teem with life and colour.

Sydney

I loved Sydney! It was such a great place to be - neat, clean, open and just... antah ah. Siuk lah. I recommend, especially Darling Harbour - siuk!

USA

Hehe what to say? We went to official sites and the homes of Americans. The picture below is of a replica of the Oval Office in the White House, while the one below it shows the home of an Amish family in Cleveland. If you are familiar with the Amish, you would know that drg ani shun (most) modern trappings. They actually use that carriage as their main transport - drg naik bus or keta org lain apa but they don't drive, and believe it or not - they live without electricity!

That's it so far - bah kamu lagi share gambar2 and stories lah. Let's liven this blog up.

yesterday i think it was the worst banjir ever to hit brunei selama bpuluh taun lamanya. hee (; i think so. i was shocked and sad because my room was full of water, it cause damages to my things & the water level was to my stomach. hee ;p at yoyo crib's jua i help out getting the water out and sampat lagi makan breakfast nasi goreng untie midah.

at nene, i was very3 tired, morning until afternoon i cleaned the banjir with family and cousin. and azrul came by to help us also. my room was a disaster. tv, my bed, my old phone, dvd player,DVD, my shoe were all destroyed. when me and bujah were cleaning at the store, bujah found a tilipia fish, we caught it and put it in a bucket, and we masak it. hahaha kidding. ;p err okay that's from me, FAHMI. (: askumm!

Last Sunday, unc sama auntie decided to go jalan2 cari buah, since there is nothing much to do. Mula2 kami jalan dekat Wasan dan terus ka Batang Mitus. On the way we stop at a gerai selling Durians, and other fruits( pics inset). We bought 'sa ikat' Durian Putih for $15.00.Then we go up to Jalan Lamunin, up and up we reached Tasik Marimbun. We were very dismayed at the state of the much hyped Tasik Marimbun. Taking the route back , we decided to take the Bukit Udal's route. Little that we knew the it was 29km straight up to Pasir Putih's junction (We were half way to Seria).

Well we have to go back now, since it was nearly noon. On The way home, we stopped again at Jerudong Beach. There I bought some fish, and auntie bought more Durians, which (to our suprise) were much cheaper.

Meet Jane

Meet Jane:

She's the cast of a real T-rex. Just last month she moved here and now lives in the Geology Department, which is right under my department (Geography).

Her presence amongst us has given us such a big boost in cool, giving us something to brag about to those in other, dinosaur-less departments.

Jane's got a bit of superstar connection, since she was commissioned by the same people who did the lifelike Trex-es for the Jurassic Park movie.

She's really nice, and during the weekend when no one was around she let me play the part of the victim while she took on the role of her Jurassic counterparts.

A camera crew (my coursemate Petra, from Nigeria, who operated my Canon Powershot A590 with the same skill as Steven Spielberg) was on site to capture the scene.

This is my Oscar-worthy performance as damsel-in-distress running away from fearsome, terrifying (and bony) T-rex extraordinaire.

Visiting hours are Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 5.00pm.

Ini iah kereta unc yang pertama(Nissan Skyline 280) Plate No BB6832. Unc beli second hand saja for $8,000/= daripada Pg Alauddin (Sekarang Grand Chamberlain), pada tahun 1977. Waktu itu baru bekerja 2 tahun di RTB sebagai jurukamera.Setelah memakai nya selama 2 tahun sahaja, unc jual, dan sekarang ani inda tau di manakah ia (mungkin di scrapyard udah). Masa atu famous 'Starsky & Hutch' ,jadi perasaan lah unc, Boleh tahan jua kereta ani, it can go over 100mph , To all the nephews' EAT MY DUST'

It is understandable when you ran out of ang pow monies during this Hari Raya. Kids(anak buah) keeps on adding each year.... sheeesh
These are only a few tips I can think of, feel free to add some more....
1. Give the kids blank envelopes
2. Give them Malaysian Ringgit , or better still Indonesian Rupiahs
3. Pretend not to hear when they whisper with each other
